Women In Need, Inc. began in 1980 with a group of Greenville citizens consisting of a DHS Social Worker, Police Personnel, and several business owners and clergy concerned about the lack of resources for family violence in the Hunt County area. After meeting and determining that the need was great, these 9 citizens began a campaign to raise funds for the Family Violence Shelter.
